The Final Day - Signs and Events of Qiyamah in Islam

⏳ The Final Day

"Every soul will taste death. And you will be paid in full on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has succeeded." — Surah Al-Imran (3:185)

📖 Introduction: A Certainty

The Day of Judgment, known as Yawm al-Akhir in Arabic, is a fundamental belief in Islam. It is the fifth pillar of Iman, and every Muslim must believe in it. The Final Day is the culmination of human history, when all of creation will be resurrected, judged, and assigned to either Paradise or Hellfire.

The Quran declares: "The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds." (Surah Al-Mutaffifin 83:6)

📋 Minor Signs of Qiyamah

The minor signs are numerous and have been gradually appearing throughout history. Many of them are already visible in our times.

Widespread corruption and immorality
Loss of trust and honesty
Spread of ignorance and decline of knowledge
Widespread usury and interest (riba)
Women wearing men's clothing and vice versa
Earthquakes, disasters, and natural calamities

"The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The Hour will not be established until... knowledge is taken away, earthquakes become frequent, time passes quickly, trials and tribulations appear, and murder increases.'" (Sahih Bukhari)

⚡ Major Signs of Qiyamah

The major signs are ten great events that will occur in succession, signaling that the end is near. These are mentioned in authentic Hadith.

1. The Dajjal (Antichrist)

A false messiah who will claim to be God and spread corruption across the earth.

2. The Return of Isa (Jesus)

Prophet Isa will descend from heaven, defeat the Dajjal, and establish justice.

3. Gog and Magog (Yajuj and Majuj)

A powerful and destructive tribe that will be released upon the earth.

4. The Beast of the Earth

A creature that will emerge from the earth and speak to people, marking the believers.

5. The Smoke (Dukhan)

A visible smoke will fill the earth, affecting believers and disbelievers differently.

6. The Sun Rising from the West

A sign that marks the closing of the door of repentance.

🌅 The Resurrection (Ba'ath)

After the major signs, the angel Israfil will blow the Trumpet for the second time, and all of creation will be resurrected from their graves. This is known as Yawm al-Ba'ath.

"And the Horn will be blown, and behold, from the graves they will hasten to their Lord." (Surah Ya-Sin 36:51)

👥 The Gathering (Al-Hashr)

All of humanity will be gathered on the plain of resurrection. They will be barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. The sun will be brought close, and people will be in a state of extreme anxiety.

The Shade of Allah

Seven groups will be shaded by Allah's throne on a day when there is no other shade.

The Intercession

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will intercede for the believers on the Day of Judgment.

⚖️ The Reckoning (Al-Hisab)

Every person will be presented with their book of deeds. The believers will receive their books in their right hands, while the disbelievers will receive them in their left hands or from behind their backs.

"Then as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will be judged with an easy account." (Surah Al-Inshiqaq 84:7-8)

📊 The Scales (Al-Mizan)

A divine scale will be set up to weigh the deeds of every person. Good deeds will be weighed against bad deeds, and the outcome will determine one's eternal destiny.

"So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." (Surah Az-Zalzalah 99:7-8)

🌉 The Bridge (As-Sirat)

As-Sirat is a bridge stretched over Hellfire. It is sharper than a sword and thinner than a hair. Every person must cross it according to their deeds.

🕊️ For the Believers

They will cross the bridge with light and speed, entering Paradise safely.

🔥 For the Sinners

They will fall into Hellfire, where they will be punished for their sins.

🏛️ Paradise (Jannah) and Hellfire (Jahannam)

After the judgment, every person will be assigned to their eternal abode. The believers will enter Paradise, while the disbelievers will enter Hellfire.

🏛️

Paradise (Jannah)

A place of eternal bliss, rivers of milk and honey, beautiful gardens, and the pleasure of Allah. The ultimate reward for the believers.

🔥

Hellfire (Jahannam)

A place of eternal punishment, scorching fire, boiling water, and torment. The ultimate punishment for the disbelievers.

Belief in the Final Day is not just a theological concept; it is a practical guide for daily life. It encourages Muslims to:

Perform good deeds and avoid sins.
